Join Mixxer at Truist Stadium for a day full of arts, innovation, and robots! Sign up on this page to compete with your robot during the Stadium Showdown Robot Rumble! This competition will include categories: Fairyweight (150 g), Antweight (1lb), Plantweight (1 lb), Beetleweight (3 lbs), Bot Hockey, and Junk Bots. Registration Details:

  • Registration fees vary based on weight class

    • Each registration of 1 weight class robot (Fairy, Ant, Plant, & Beetle) includes 2 pit pass wristbands & 2 meal vouchers

    • Each Junk Bot & Bot Hockey registration comes with 1 pit pass and 0 meal vouchers

      • Each robot for Bot Hockey is registered individually but is part of a team of 3. If you know your team members, please enter them at registration; otherwise, you will be paired with a team.

    • Any additional team members or guests who need access to the pit & a meal voucher will need to purchase a Pit Pass ticket ($20 each)

    • General Admission tickets ($5 per adult, under 18 free with an adult) will be available at the door

  • You will receive all pit pass wristbands & meal vouchers associated with your team at check in

    • You are responsible for distributing wristbands and vouchers to your team members. No additional wristbands or vouchers will be given after check in.

    • Anyone without a wristband will NOT be allowed in the pit area.

    • Food vendors will be on site for purchase in addition to what is available with a voucher

  • Waitlist will be contacted on a 1st come, 1st serve basis upon a robot dropping out

    • Waivers and payment are not required while on the waitlist

    • We request any drop out notices come before 9/5


Competition Details:

  • Bracket: Modified Double Elimination

  • Duration: two-minute fights, twenty minute guaranteed between fights. One deferment allowed per robot.

    • If you do not pass safety before 8:30, you will have to use your deferment to compete.

  • Judging: 3 judge panel using 5-4 (damage, engagement) metric. Damage is worth 5 points while engagement is worth 4. Each judge picks a winner. 

  • Arena Specification:

    • Cage 1: 8’x8' arena with steel floor (Full Combat Ants & Beetles)

    • Cage 2: 6'x6' arena with steel floor (Plants & Fairies)

  • Each team will have one table (5’ minimum), two chairs, and a nearby power outlet.

    • Your equipment and storage will need to stay within the table volume. Bring your own power strip. 

  • Live Stream will be available 

  • Awards: Trophies will be awarded to 1st-3rd place in each weight class, Winner of the Rumble, Most Destructive Robot, and Most Destroyed Robot

    • Trophies will be presented on Saturday night after the final battle



Schedule:

  • 6:00 AM: Stadium Opens for Check In

  • 6:30-8:00 AM: Safety Inspections

  • 8:30 AM: Builder's Meeting

  • 9:00 AM: Fights Begin

    • No Break for Lunch; meal vouchers may be used any time food is being served

  • Junk bot rumble & Bot Hockey matches will take place as time allows



Robot Rules:

  • 900 MHz, 2.4GHz, or spectrum radios required. Anything else needs prior approval

  • No flame weapons, no gas-powered robots. SPARC v1.5 rules apply

  • All Lipo batteries must be in a closed LiPo bag while charging

  • A visible weapon lock is required for all weapons.

  • A switch and power light are required. A jumper is acceptable in place of a switch if it can be easily and quickly connected

  • Only one robot per driver per weight class please.

  • Controlled motion is defined as the ability to move from one corner of the arena to the opposite corner in less than one minute. 


Plastic Ant rule clarifications:

  • Sparc v1.5 plastic ant rules

  • Must be 3D printed plastic

  • PET, PETG, ABS, PLA, PLA+, HIPS are the only materials that can be used for the chassis and weapons. 

  • No other types of plastics or materials are allowed

  • Foam, Lego, or other Sparc v1.5 wheels are allowed. TPU & cast wheels are acceptable. TPU may not be used for any components other than wheels, belts, and pulleys.

  • If TPU is used as a material for wheels, they must be less than 2" in diameter, and less than 0.5" in width (Exception is big wheeled bots... Your designed must be approved by Drew (drew@wsmixxer.org)

  • If it can be touched, it must be plastic. It is acceptable to epoxy, tape, or screw 3D printed components together and heads of the screws to be visible if they're only used for minimal support (i.e., attaching the top onto the sides of the robot, gluing 3D printed parts together at the seam if they'd be bigger than your print bed, etc.) 

  • Motors, electronics, axles, fasteners and adhesives can be any reasonable material but cannot be used in such a way to enhance the structural integrity, armor the robot, or enhance any weapon.

  • Robot may be disqualified at the Event Organizer’s discretion if it is deemed to violate the spirit of the class. Contact the event organizer ahead of time if you are not sure your robot meets the above definition.
